Great Coaching Makes a Difference

Coaching at the BARCELONA TENNIS ACADEMY is under the direction of JUAN CARLOS BAGUENA of Spain and RAPHAEL MAURER of Switzerland, Juan Carlos was previously Head Coach at the Bruguera academy and a former top 200 ATP player, while Raphael was Head Coach in US and Asian Tennis Academies, coaching all around the world, including at Grand Slam events.

Training consists of about 4 hours of tennis and 1 hour of fitness every day. The morning session includes more technical and tactical drills with lots of repetitions to develop consistency and control. In the afternoon, we emphasize on tactical understanding with specific point situations and match play.

A typical day for full-time players is as follows from Monday to Friday:

  • 07:30 – 08:00 Breakfast
  • 09:00 – 09:30 Warm-up
  • 09:30 – 11:30 Technical and Tactical Training
  • 11:30 – 12:30┬á Physical Training
  • 12:30 – 14:15 Lunch and Rest
  • 14:15 – 14:30 Warm-up
  • 14:30 – 16:15 Technical and Tactical Training/ Match Play
  • 16:15 – 16:30 Cool-down/ Stretching

On Saturdays, players meet for 2 hours of┬áFitness in the morning. Saturday afternoon and Sunday are off. We strongly suggest that players use that time to disconnect from the sport, go sightseeing, go to the beach, movies, and so on…There will be some tournaments during week-ends as well.
